Practice Name:

1000th Refugee Celebration!

In early 2006 the Refugee Health Clinic was established at Logan Central Community Health to enable refugees to have a nursing health assessment within one month of arrival. Immunisation catch up is commenced and clients are then referred into General Practice for completion of the health assessment and ongoing care. The successful model here in Logan is due to the capacity building undertaken by the Refugee Health Clinic and the partnerships between health services, General Practice Logan Area Network, General Practitioners and community groups.

In recognition of the milestone of the 1000th client through the Logan Refugee Health Clinic, the partners here in Logan wish to acknowledge the dedicated work being conducted at the clinic and celebrate the success of refugees settling into a better life in our society.

Join us on 13th May 2009 to celebrate and hear experiences from the nurses at the clinic along with experiences from the refugees themselves and acknowledgement to the 1000th client. A meal and refreshments will be provided with the evening facilitated by Desley Scott MP and a representative from State Parliament as guest speaker. Entertainment from the Burmese and Burundi communities should not be missed.
